Roland Garros bo dobil novo junakinjo

PARIZ, FRANCIJA - Po osmini finala ženskega dela tekmovanja OP Francije je jasno, da bomo dobili novo zmagovalko.

Niti ena četrtfinalistka Odprtega prvenstva Francije še ni zmagala na peščenem grand slamu, zato je jasno, da bo okronana nova junakinja.

V ženskem delu je 1. nosilka in 1. igralka sveta Angelique Kerber izpadla že v 1. krogu, v osmini pa sta padli tisti dve, ki sta že okusili slast zmagoslavja na pariškem pesku, Svetlana Kuznjecova in branilka naslova Garbine Muguruza.

Izmed tistih osmih, ki so ostale v žrebu, je edina igrala v finalu Romunka Simona Halep. Pred tremi leti je izgubila boj za lovoriko z Marijo Šarapovo, prav 3. nosilka pa ima ob Ukrajinki Elini Svitolini najboljše izide na pesku v letošnji sezoni. Romunka zaenkrat še ni oddala niza tekmicam, vse ostale pa so imele na poti do četrtfinala praktično hude preiskušnje. Tudi petopostavljena Svitolina. Danes se je rešila iz brezna v tekmi s Hrvatico Petro Martič. Slednja je začela v kvalifikacijah, blestela vse do današnjega zaključka, kjer je zakockala največjo zmago v karieri. Vodila je 5-2 in 0:30 na servis Ukrajinke, pa izgubila. Res neverjeten padec povratnice na terene, četrtfinale je imela praktično v žepu.

Domačini imajo vognju še dve železi. Sta morda mladi Caroline Garcia in Kristina Mladenovič tisti, ki bi lahko nasledili Mary Pierce, Francozinjo, ki je zmagala na Roland Garrosu leta 2000? Mladenovičeva je v nedeljo po treh nizih odpisala branilko naslova Muguruzo in si še dvignila samozavest.
